
Reciters from the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have participated in the contest, which has been organized by the ministry of religious affairs of Pakistan.
The opening ceremony was held in the Jinnah Assembly Hall in the presence of Sardar Yousaf, the host country’s minister of religious affairs.
The competition is held between 6 groups, and at the end, two reciters from each group will be selected for the next stage.
The semi-finals will take place on Thursday with the selection of five participants, while the finals will be held on the same day with the remaining three competing.
Adnan Momenin, a distinguished qari, is representing the Islamic Republic of Iran in this Quranic event.
Momenin, who is from the southwestern province of Khuzestan, was selected by the Committee for Inviting and Dispatching Quran Reciters.

He was a finalist in the 47th National Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a runner-up in a number of other Quran competitions, including the 27th Quran and Etrat Festival of the Ministry of Health.
Prominent Quran master Gholam Reza Shahmiveh is accompanying Momenin in the competition as a guide.
The contest is part of Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen cultural and spiritual ties among the people of the Muslim world and highlight their role in serving the Holy Quran and promoting its noble values of love, peace and unity.

By hosting the event, the country seeks to showcase its cultural, spiritual and religious traditions while strengthening ties between the member states of the OIC.
The competition also aims to encourage the youth to ponder the meanings of the Quran and preserve the sacred tradition of recitation across generations.
The event will end with an award ceremony at the Muhammad Ali Jinnah International Conference Center in the presence of religious and government figures of Pakistan on November 29.
